High art and high porn

Before magazines and videos artists crafted their own erotic drawings, as many still do. 


The below are from Italian artist Francesco Hayez (b Venice, 11 Feb 1791; d Milan, 12 Dec 1882). It seems some of my favorite moves have been around for quite a while. 


I wonder if he did these sketches to amuse himself, or perhaps to present to a lover.

Here is one of his most famous works, I recall seeing this in art history class in university.

I have a strange mind.  I'm aware that people of Hayez' time didn't usually bath often...I wonder about body odors.  I guess they were tolerated because they were the norm.
